What kind of repairs will Lakeside have to make once the flooding ends? I would think that the pits and the parking lots will be relatively easy to return to normal use. The Pit Shack appears to be under water. Will it need to be rebuilt? What about the track surface? New clay? Not sure about the electrical grid. I would assume that the main breakers/feeds would be somewhere in the main concession stand. What about the track lighting systems?

Or is all of this dependent on the amount of time that the track is under water? What happened during the last flood to get the track back in shape?

In just my opinion only,

The track surface depends on how much river silt gets deposited on the track. If it is not a thick goo I would think it could just be graded up and mixed in with the current soil that is already there. I was down there today and I went around behind the stands and drove thru some water and almost up to the pit entrance. I could see the road surface under the water and there was not any silt showing, in fact the water was pretty clear for Missouri river water. I would suspect that the water out in the current would have a lot of river silt in the water because of the turbulence mixing it up. The water my truck was standing in had no current and it appeared to be water that has backed up around the track.

The pit shack is not under water the pictures on here show that,,, it has about at least a foot of water around it and not more than 2 or so feet. All it needs when the water recedes is to just dry out.

Most electrical box's are mounted several feet above the ground,,,something like 4 feet or so and not a foot off the ground, If the water does not get any higher I doubt there will be any issue with the electrical system, and I would think that Marc had the power cut off to the whole place just to insure that a electrical fire would not become a issue. The water could block access to the buildings and the fire dept could not get in.

I think that if the water does not get any higher and not a lot of silt on the track, the place could get back in business after it dries up. The only problem is how long the water is there and how long it takes to dry out, I heard from 2 sources that this level of water could last till the end of August, that could be a bite in the butt for us all and especially the track owner from a financial standpoint

I don't know what they did in 93.

How are people getting to the track to take pictures? There are gates and no trespassing signs. Wanted to check it out today, but didn't want to trespass.

Drive in just like you always do,,,, Marc now has the gate by the ticket booth closed that lets you up on the hill, that is all that was locked up when I was there and I was past the gate just before it got locked up.

Early bird gets the worm,,ya know seeing it in person is not much more than looking at the pictures....

I was just thinking, and that is dangerous for me,...

Anyone know if Marc will be able to put in for some federal disaster aid? If memory serves me right I believe the area has been declared a disaster area.

Hope it works out for him and the staff there. It is a sad deal.

Race on.

I don't think you are a spokesman for Lakeside Speedway. They will keep everyone up to date on what is going on.

Thanks
Jr.

SPEAKING OF UPDATES, IS THERE ANY FURTHER INFO ON THE TRACK? THE PIC OF THE TRACK ALMOST 100% UNDER WATER IS THE LAST UPDATE. IS THE WATER STILL RISING AND GETTING DEEPER OUT THERE?
