Sadly, the 2011 season at Lakeside Speedway is coming to an early conclusion. There is still a significant amount of water in and around the facility from flooding of the Missouri River in July that is preventing us from re-starting this season. No one is sorrier than we are to announce this.

Hopefully before winter hits, we can get in a weekend or two for clean-up. Many of you have called or e-mailed that you would volunteer your time to help with the clean-up process, this is greatly appreciated by both of us. We will need people with push brooms, riding lawn mowers, weed eaters, a large pump or two and a power washer.

We thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Lakeside Speedway will be back in 2012 and better than ever with the best drivers, fans, teams, safety crew, officials and sponsors.

Regards,
Page and Marc Olson

I think this is great but from what I just heard on the news, the corp is now talking about running the river high all winter and that next year may be worse as they will not be able to fix the leve's that are broken.

I hate to hear that but how can anybody invest money into this if the river is going to be an issue for the next year,,,,, This is unreal and I sure hope the news is wrong but if it is right, it could spell the end of the track...... Man this sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This entire flooding problem is because of the large amount of snow up north and started melting. If there is a bad winter again,,,,you know the rest.

The Farmers Alamanic (however it is spelled) predicted last years winter correctly.

We do not know what the river issue will be like next year,,, be positive and for forth as if there will be no problem with the river there is no other choice in the matter.

I would be more than happy to help out by doing grunt work to clean up. Although I've always been a mere spectator, I consider Lakeside to be the best entertainment value anywhere. Afterall, where else can you go for a full evening of entertainment for $12? And boy is it entertaining! It would be worth it to me to volunteer my labor to say "thanks" for some great entertainment at an affordable price.

Remember, what you hear may not all way's be the truth. What bank would give loans to a business in a flood plane with value decreasing all the time. I want Lakeside to succeed just like everyone else, but many racers have a lot of money and time in their race operation in hope that Lakeside will be there.I just think there is more to this then being told. We will see next year, I guess. I hope I am wrong just do not think it will happen unless a miracle comes along (money).I just think the track should be more up front before people spend thousands of dollars, which many do not have who plan on racing next year.Lakeside does not have much pull just like the people that were bought out and had no choice, but to leave their homes and they were all torn down. Nobody would buy the track ,because were it is at so not much value there.
Lakeside is a tradition here and want nothing more then to see it back.

Got2race,

I have to ask you, "Where are you getting your information and what are you trying to say?"

Marc and Page Olson own the property, it's not being taken away from them. They are planning to race next season in April and they have not sold or had anyone buy interest into the race track. I spent last Friday evening with them at their house and not once did they say anything about not opening up, nor waiting for the racers to build cars only to tell them that it won't re-open. If you think that, than you really don't know Marc Olson and I highly doubt that you race there.

There are rumors floating around about another owner or someone is telling people that they own the track. It's an absolute fabrication. As stated before, Marc and Page Olson own Lakeside Speedway. The track is making it through this tough time and plans are being put in place for next season.

Volunteers will be needed for a cleanup in short time and they will be very appreciated. I am sure that more volunteers will be needed in Spring for another round of cleanup.

When I talked to Marc last Friday night, there was no mention of IMCA, USRA, UMP, IMSA, Wissota, NASCAR or other sanctioning body coming in next season. Rumors are just that, rumors. If you want the answers to any questions, email me [email protected] or email Marc at [email protected].

Thanks,
Jr.
