Salina Speedway & Thunder Hill Speedway Team Up for Racers and Fans in 2012
by Dusty Wiegert
SALINA, Kan. -- This upcoming race season will see two great Speedways teaming up for the greater good as the Salina Speedway in Salina, Kansas and the Thunder Hill Speedway in Mayetta, Kansas will work together to offer incentives to those who visit both venues.
For the drivers, a bonus will be up for grabs for winning at both tracks on a weekend. If a driver wins Friday night at Salina and then wins again in the same division on Saturday at Thunder Hill that driver will be eligible for a bonus. The IMCA Modified driver will be paid an extra $100 while drivers in the IMCA Stock Car, IMCA Northern SportMod, and IMCA Hobby Stock divisions will earn a $50 bonus.
At the end of the season if a driver would happen to win a track championship at both tracks in the same division they would also be eligible for even more bonus money. If the driver pilots a IMCA Modified they will pocket an extra $500. If they are in a IMCA Stock Car, IMCA Northern SportMod, or IMCA Hobby Stock they will win an extra $250.
Fans will also have a chance to see racing at both tracks as ten pairs of tickets will be given away each night at both Speedways to the other the following night or week.
Officials hope to see many drivers and fans blazing down I-70 en route to two of the few weekly tracks in the area and with these incentives could very well see it happening.
